Enos Park Neighborhood

Enos Park


The Enos Park neighborhood is bounded by 2nd Street on the west, 10th Street on the east, Carpenter on the south, and North Grand on the north. It is a primarily residential area completely surrounded by the boundaries of the Mid-Illinois Medical District. Springfield Memorial Hospital is located at the western edge of the neighborhood, HSHS St. John’s Hospital on the eastern edge, and SIU School of Medicine and Prairie Cardiovascular on the southern boundary.

Downtown Springfield


Historic Downtown Springfield is part of, and adjacent to the Medical District’s southern boundary. Downtown Springfield is the seat of Illinois Government with the State Capitol and numerous State departments and office buildings. Downtown also features Lincoln Historic sites such as the Lincoln Home, The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and the Old State Capitol where Abraham Lincoln gave his famous “House Divided” Speech. Downtown Springfield also features numerous business headquarters, offices, restaurants and entertainment options.

The Downtown Springfield YMCA is 88,000 square feet and includes a swimming pool, therapy pool, men’s and women’s health clubs, fitness facility, gymnastics, an elevated running track and racquetball courts. This new, modern recreational facility is located in the heart of Springfield. The new location is intended to be the catalyst for the surrounding area, which falls within the Medical District and saddles the line between downtown Springfield and Enos Park.
