Matt Fry, DHA, MHA, MBA, FACHE, became the President and CEO of HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Ill. on September 19, 2022. In November of 2023, he was promoted to the Market President and CEO of Central Illinois, which added oversight of St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur, Ill. and St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield, Ill. Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) is a not-for-profit healthcare system headquartered in Springfield, Ill., and operates a network of 15 hospitals and other healthcare facilities throughout Illinois and Wisconsin. Founded in 1875, St. John’s Hospital is a regional medical center and the flagship hospital of HSHS.
Matt began his healthcare career as an administrative fellow in 2013 with Sutter Health and spent nearly a decade within the Sutter Health system and its affiliates. He has a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Humboldt State University in Arcata, CA, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Nevada in Reno, and a Master of Healthcare Administration from Louisiana State University in Shreveport, La. In 2023, he acquired his Doctor of Healthcare Administration from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Miss.
Matt and his family joined our community from Oakland, Calif. His family includes his wife Amanda, Charlotte (Charlie, 6), Samantha (4), and Matt Jr. (2). They are also happily expecting baby number four in the Spring of 2024! Matt and his family enjoy cooking, hiking, and spending time outdoors. Matt has been active in local organizations, such as the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois, American College of Healthcare Executives, and now the Springfield Sangamon Growth Alliance.
Matt is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He also holds a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
