Marcus Johnson

Marcus E. Johnson is a servant leader with demonstrated experience in supporting the complex economic issues of our community members. Appointed July 2021 as the President and CEO of the Springfield Urban League Inc., Marcus oversees the development of programs that enhance community, state, and federal relationships. Marcus secures program funding that addresses short and long-term strategic planning, partnership development with regulators, community members, donors, and staff. Marcus is regarded for leading teams toward a common goal while fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability to drive social justice. He is passionate about mission-driven operations, community engagement, and philanthropic giving.

Johnson earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Tuskegee University, a Master of Public Health with a concentration in Community Health Education from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, and is completing his Doctorate in Education with a Concentration in Interdisciplinary Leadership at Creighton University.
